STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

To provide ongoing childcare that services the needs of parents, children, and the immediate community.
To celebrate and respect the uniqueness as well as the similarities of all persons in our multicultural, multifaceted society.
To help prepare children for future placement in the school system.

ARRIVAL AND FREE PLAY

During free play, children have access to all areas of the preschool. An art activity is set out daily and children are encouraged to participate. The program is theme-based and all areas of play will reflect this in many forms.

Snack Time, healthy snacks are preferred. These include any fruits, vegetables or crackers.

During circle time, a variety of activities: including daily calendar, group games, books, felt board stories, discussions, experiments, puppets, musical instruments, movement activities, special guest speakers and/or parents, etc. Departure

Upon departure, artwork is distributed to the children and upcoming events are reminded to parents.

Applying to the Preschool

Registration into the program is year round. If the program is full we will place you on a waitlist. We offer families on a first come first serve basis based on the date you paid your administration fee. Enrolled families and siblings are given priority for the new school year.

Administration Fee

You are required to pay an annual $75.00 administration fee that covers all administrative fees for the year from September through June, once you register or re-register for admission into the preschool. If there is a summer program then the fee will extend until the end of August. This fee is non-refundable after 10 working days.

Fees are subject to change.

September Fees
Once the preschool begins each September you will be required to immediately pay September and June fees. You are then required to provide postdated cheques for October through May. If you start the preschool mid-year then you will be required to immediately pay for your child's first month and June and provide post-dated cheques for the remaining months

Receipts will be given out for your annual income tax deduction are issued by the preschool board at the end of February and will be available in the preschool for pick-up or will be mailed out to you.

Subsidies
If you require a subsidy you must pay the full price for the preschool and once the treasurer receives the subsidy you will immediately be notified and issued a cheque for the full amount that you are subsidized.

Preschool Procedures and Policy Manual
Each family registered in the preschool will be provided with one operations manual for their family. This manual provides you with guidance, policies, and expectations for parents and children of the preschool. A copy is available to be emailed to you when requested.

Preschool Parent Board

Sexsmith Community Preschool is a not-for-profit organization. A parent run board operates the functional aspects of the preschool. You are welcomed to actively participate on the board. Please see the operations manual for more information.
